Several human rights organisations and activists have strongly condemned the life imprisonment of four Baloch activists, including Mahrang Baloch. They described the verdict as a blatant miscarriage of justice and an act of judicial terrorism by Pakistan. The criticism followed a ruling by a Pakistani Anti-Terrorism Court, which sentenced the four activists to life imprisonment in a case linked to the killing of a Frontier Corps official.
Condemning the decision, Baloch National Movement called Pakistan a terrorist state and alleged that Islamabad is using its institutions to spread fear and terror in Balochistan. The Human Rights Council of Balochistan termed the verdict a blatant miscarriage of justice, saying it was aimed at criminalising peaceful human rights advocacy and silencing voices speaking out against alleged state-sponsored rights violations.
