The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has said that horticulture production in the country is expected to be about 3,778 lakh tonnes in 2025–26, showing an increase of 70.39 lakh tonnes over 2024–25.
According to the Second Advance Estimates of 2025–26 on the area and production of various horticultural crops released by the Ministry, the horticulture cultivation area in the country is likely to reach 301.51 lakh hectares in 2025–26, marking an increase of 0.14 lakh hectares over 2024–25.
The Ministry added that an increase in production is expected in fruits, vegetables, flowers, and aromatic and medicinal crops.
As per the estimates, fruit production is expected to be over 1,214 lakh tonnes, driven by higher output of banana, mango, papaya, apple, and guava.
The Ministry noted that onion production is expected to be more than 307 lakh tonnes in 2025–26. The report also shows that flower production is estimated to be over 45 lakh tonnes during the same period.
