Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair the 10th Apex-Level Meeting of the Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD) in New Delhi today. The meeting, being organised by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), will bring together representatives from Central Ministries, State Governments, and drug law enforcement agencies to review and strengthen efforts to combat drug trafficking and drug abuse across the country.

On the occasion, Union Home Minister will release the Vision Document on Narcotics Control 2026–2029, prepared through extensive consultations with various stakeholders. According to the Ministry, the document will provide a roadmap for tackling the drug menace through coordinated measures focusing on demand reduction, supply reduction, and rehabilitation. It will also outline strategies to address emerging challenges such as synthetic drugs and darknet-enabled trafficking, while promoting greater awareness, treatment, and rehabilitation services.

The Home Minister will also release the NCB Annual Report 2025 and inaugurate newly built NCB zonal offices in Jammu and Guwahati. He will launch the Online Drug Disposal Fortnight Campaign, under which around 209,500 kilograms of seized narcotic substances, valued at about 6,000 crore rupees, are expected to be destroyed across the country in accordance with legal procedures.

The Ministry added that the meeting aims to reinforce the government’s zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and advance the vision of a drug-free India. It will also provide a platform to assess the collective efforts of all stakeholders and chart the course for effective narcotics control over the next three years.
