Home Minister Amit Shah Flags Off Har Ghar Tiranga Yatra in Puducherry

Union Home Minister Amit Shah today flagged off Har Ghar Tiranga yatra at Muruga Theatre Signal in Puducherry. Lt Governor K. Kailashnathan, Puducherry Home Minister A. Namassivayam, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Minister G. N. S. Rajasekharan and BJP President V. P. Ramalingam were among those present on the occasion. Thousands of people participated in the rally with tricolour flags.

Earlier, the Home Minister participated in the presentation ceremony of the President’s Police Colour to the Puducherry Police at the Police Training School ground in Gorimedu.

Congratulating the Puducherry Police, Mr. Amit Shah said that receiving the President’s Police Colour is one of the most glorious moments in the life of any disciplined police force. He said that although the Puducherry Police has a strength of less than 5,000 personnel, it is entrusted with protecting Puducherry, maintaining its internal security and safeguarding the honour and dignity of the Union Territory, which has a rich spiritual heritage. With this historic recognition of the President’s Police Colour, Puducherry has become the 18th State/Union Territory in the country to be bestowed with this highest honour conferred upon a police force. Puducherry Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, Home Minister A. Namassivayam and Director General of Police Shalini Singh were also present on the occasion.
