Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Land Port Management System (LPMS), ‘Vinimay’, in New Delhi to digitize and streamline cargo processing and passenger movement across India’s land borders. Addressing the gathering on Tuesday, Mr Shah said, the initiative marks a significant step towards building a modern and technology-driven border management system. He said, the platform is aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and will strengthen trade facilitation, connectivity and national security. The Home Minister said, land ports have not only enhanced border security and increased trade but have also helped curb illegal encroachment and unauthorized activities.
Mr. Shah emphasized that the government is committed to strengthening border security through the adoption of digital technologies and efficient management systems. He said, the launch of the Vinimay platform marks an important milestone in the country’s efforts to further strengthen border security and improve the overall functioning of land ports.
LPMS is a digital platform designed to integrate operations across land ports into a unified system. It will enable secure, real-time exchange of logistics and regulatory information, bringing land ports on a par with digital systems already in place at airports and seaports.
