HM Amit Shah unveils statue of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Rajasthan on his death anniversary

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee spent a long period in the Opposition before becoming Prime Minister, but he never compromised on his principles. He said this is why Vajpayee was known as “Ajatshatru” – a person without enemies.

Mr. Shah was addressing a programme in Nimbahera in Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan today after unveiling a statue of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and inaugurating various development projects on the occasion of Vajpayee’s death anniversary. Mr. Shah said that as Prime Minister, Vajpayee always kept ‘Nation First’ and took several historic decisions.

The Union Home Minister said that the Ministry of Tribal Affairs was established during Mr. Vajpayee’s tenure as Prime Minister. He said the initiatives Mr. Vajpayee undertook for the welfare of tribal communities were advanced by this government through several historic decisions aimed at safeguarding the rights and interests of tribals.

Mr. Shah will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for several development projects in Alwar later this afternoon.
