HM Amit Shah inaugurates several projects at SSB headquarters in Siliguri, West Bengal

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several projects at the headquarters of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in Siliguri, West Bengal, today.

Addressing the Personnel following the ceremony, Shah noted that former chief ministers were invited to previous SSB events but chose not to attend. He stated that since Suvendu Adhikari became Chief Minister, full cooperation is being provided for border security, adding that tasks are being resolved via phone calls even before formal paperwork arrives, and the remaining 29 acres of required land are also being handed over.

Home Minister mentioned that extensive discussions had taken place regarding issues in West Bengal, alleging that despite repeated requests to Mamata Banerjee to curb infiltration, land was not provided despite promises. He expressed his gratitude to the people of Bengal.

On this occasion, foundation stones were laid for several SSB camps, encompassing works worth approximately 189 crore rupees. The Home Minister stated that since the BJP government came to power at the Centre, the welfare of personnel responsible for border security has been given utmost priority.

He highlighted that the SSB is performing the challenging task of guarding open borders with countries like Nepal and Bhutan, calling it one of the toughest duties. Furthermore, he mentioned that understanding the importance of the Siliguri Corridor, the Central Government has stepped up surveillance in the region.
