Union Home Minister Amit Shah today attended the 60th Raising Day celebrations of the Chandigarh Police as the chief guest at the Police Lines in Sector 26, Chandigarh. He inspected the police parade and took the salute during the march past.
On this occasion, he presented President’s Medals to Chandigarh Police officers and personnel and also bestowed the prestigious ‘President’s Police Colour’ approved by President Droupadi Murmu upon the Chandigarh Police.
Extending his heartfelt congratulations on the Chandigarh Police’s Raising Day and the receipt of the ‘President’s Police Colour,’ the Union Home Minister lauded the force for its six decades of service and dedication.
The Union Home Minister remarked that even during the era of terrorism, the Chandigarh Police demonstrated exceptional courage and valour; through their bravery, service, and commitment to good governance, they played a pivotal role in shielding Chandigarh from the scourge of terrorism. He noted that since Chandigarh serves as the joint capital for both Punjab and Haryana, it often becomes a focal point for various challenges. Nevertheless, the Chandigarh Police has consistently maintained law and order by effectively coordinating with both the Haryana and Punjab Police forces.
During the event, he also inducted 141 new vehicles into the Chandigarh Police fleet, stating that this would further improve the force’s response time. Shortly, the Union Home Minister will lay the foundation stones for and inaugurate several projects in Chandigarh.
