Union Home Minister Amit Shah targeted the Congress party’s recent political rallies, labelling them as campaigns to protect illegal infiltrators rather than genuine voter awareness efforts. Speaking at a massive public rally organized as part of the BJP Maha Padayatra in Hyderabad, Mr Shah asserted that despite efforts by Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, infiltrators would not be allowed voting rights. He questioned whether fake votes, deceased voters, and non-resident entries should remain on electoral rolls, defending the ongoing voter list verification process.
Addressing opposition allegations regarding Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Amit Shah issued a direct challenge from Hyderabad for an open debate on both subjects. Rebutting claims that electoral systems favor the ruling party at the Center, he questioned how Congress formed the government in Telangana or how non-BJP administrations were established in states like Kerala and Tamil Nadu through EVM elections. He stated that the BJP achieved electoral mandates in 2014 and 2019 even before recent revisions were instituted, reflecting growing nationwide public support.
Concluding his address, Amit Shah reiterated the central government’s commitment to establishing a drug-free India and prioritizing policies for farmers, youth, and economically weaker sections.
