Himachal Pradesh: BJP wins majority in Dharamshala, Solan and Mandi municipal corporations

The Bharatiya Janata Party has secured a clear majority in three of the four municipal corporations in Himachal Pradesh. Counting of votes for the municipal corporation elections, held on May 17, was completed today.

The BJP won the Dharamshala, Solan and Mandi Municipal Corporations, while the Congress emerged victorious in Palampur Municipal Corporation. In Dharamshala, the BJP won 11 of the 17 wards. In Solan, it secured 10 seats, while in Mandi, the party registered a strong victory by winning 12 of the 14 wards where polling was held. The Congress secured a clear majority in Palampur by winning 11 of the 15 wards.

Meanwhile, counting of votes for the Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections was also conducted today. Polling for 251 Zila Parishad seats and 1,669 Panchayat Samiti seats was held in three phases. The Panchayati Raj elections recorded an estimated voter turnout of around 81 per cent.
