Himachal Pradesh: 25 houses completely whitewashed in Kangra district due to cloudburst

A cloudburst has caused massive devastation in the Garhgun and Spada villages of the Boh Valley in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. Twenty-five houses were completely destroyed in the disaster, while many others sustained damage. No loss of life reported so far. Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa visited the affected areas to review relief and rehabilitation efforts, stating that families whose homes were completely washed away would be allotted government land if necessary. The Deputy Commissioner reported that a total of 38 families-comprising approximately 200 people-have been affected. In Garhgun village, 12 families lost their homes entirely, while 13 houses were completely destroyed in Spada village. Additionally, nine houses were partially damaged, and 12 others remain at risk. Several cowsheds were buried under debris, resulting in the loss of livestock. Household belongings, rations, and clothing belonging to the affected families were also buried in the debris. As a precautionary measure, the administration has evacuated both villages. The affected people have been accommodated in a relief camp set up at the local Senior Secondary School, while some families are staying with relatives. The administration has provided clothing, utensils, rations, and other essential daily-use items.
