Himachal accident: 13 killed as massive boulder rolled down and crushed Tata Sumo

 
Thirteen people were killed after a vehicle was crushed by a massive boulder that fell from a hillside near Kadunala on the Udaipur-Killar road in Himachal Pradesh’s tribal district of Lahaul-Spiti this afternoon.
Deputy Commissioner and Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority, Lahaul-Spiti, Kiran Bhadana, said that according to the information received so far, the vehicle was carrying 13 persons, including the driver, and all of them lost their lives in the tragic incident.
She said that immediately after receiving information about the accident, the district administration, police, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), and other concerned agencies launched a rescue and relief operation. The process of identifying the deceased is currently underway, and detailed information will be shared only after official confirmation. The district administration is closely monitoring the situation, while rescue and relief operations continue at the site.
Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed deep grief over the tragedy and directed the Deputy Commissioner of Lahaul-Spiti to personally supervise the rescue and relief operations at the site. He also instructed the authorities to extend all possible assistance to the families of the deceased.  
President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President C P Radhakrishnan have expressed grief over the tragic incident. In a social media post, the President conveyed her deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident. The Vice President in a social media post expressed condolences to the bereaved families.
Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda, Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, and former Union Minister and Member of Parliament Anurag Singh Thakur also expressed profound grief over the  accident and conveyed their condolences to the bereaved families.
