Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said the Union Cabinet’s decision to increase the Minimum Support Price, or MSP, for rabi crops will benefit farmers.
Briefing the media in New Delhi this evening, Mr. Chouhan said that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government is committed to bringing positive changes in the lives of farmers across the country. He said the higher MSP will ensure better returns for farmers and contribute to their prosperity.
Mr Chouhan said, Ministry of Agriculture has formulated a State-Specific Rabi Plan following extensive consultations with officials and ministers from all states and conferences held in the southern, central, and northern regions.
He said, plans involving drought-resistant crops and special measures have been devised for states facing drought conditions, such as Maharashtra and Karnataka. He added that an intensive, production-focused Rabi strategy is being implemented in states with adequate water availability, such as Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.
