Heavy rainfall disrupts normal life in Himachal Pradesh

The monsoon spell continues in Himachal Pradesh, with widespread to heavy rainfall recorded at most places across the state during the past 24 hours. Monsoon rains have also affected normal life at several places.
 
Akashvani correspondent reports that intermittent rainfall has continued across most parts of Himachal Pradesh since last night. During the past 24 hours, Kataula in Mandi district recorded the highest rainfall of 74 millimetres. The continued spell of rain has disrupted normal life at several places.
 
According to the latest report of the State Emergency Operation Centre, 87 roads remain blocked due to heavy rainfall, floods and landslides. So far this monsoon season, 80 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents, while public property worth around 994 crore rupees has been damaged.
 
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, has issued an Orange Alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in four districts; Bilaspur, Kangra, Mandi and Sirmaur today. A Yellow Alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for six other districts; Una, Hamirpur, Chamba, Kullu, Shimla and Solan.
