Heavy rain triggers flood-like situation in several Agartala districts

Heavy overnight rainfall has triggered a flood-like situation across several areas of Agartala, including Chandrapur, Baldakhal and Aralia in Tripura.

The water levels of rivers and canals rose sharply, inundating several houses, roads and surrounding areas and disrupting normal life.

Several residents of the affected areas have taken shelter in relief camps. The administration has launched rescue operations to evacuate people from waterlogged areas.

West Tripura District Magistrate Dr Vishal Kumar, along with other administrative officials, visited the affected areas to assess the situation. The District Magistrate said the administration is closely monitoring the flood situation and has taken all necessary measures.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said several parts of West Tripura district have been inundated due to heavy rainfall. He said the situation is being closely monitored and district and sub-divisional magistrates have been instructed to take necessary measures.

The administration has also been directed to ensure prompt relief and essential assistance to affected people.
