Heavy rainfall under the influence of the deep depression over the Bay of Bengal has been reported in Puducherry’s Yanam region. PWD officials said 14 centimetres of rainfall was recorded in Yanam during the last 24 hours. Rain continues to lash the region, resulting in water stagnation in several residential areas. 

 

In view of the prevailing weather conditions and the forecast of heavy rainfall, all government, government-aided and private schools and colleges in Yanam region have been ordered to remain closed today as a precautionary measure.
