With the onset of the northeast monsoon, heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning lashed Puducherry until last midnight, causing waterlogging in several localities. Urban areas, including Raj Bhavan and Uppalam, and rural areas such as Villianur and Bahour received heavy rainfall.

 

Waterlogging in residential areas caused hardship to residents. Motorists and pedestrians also faced difficulties due to water overflowing onto roads. The India Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, at isolated places over Puducherry today as well.
