Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J P Nadda has stressed on the collective responsibility to ensure that progress in life sciences translates into better health, better access and better outcomes for the citizens.
Addressing the Bharat Life Sciences Award 2026 virtually in New Delhi today, the Minister underlined that the government has treated healthcare not just as a sector but as an essential pillar of human dignity. He added that Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri-Jan Arogya Yojana continues to protect millions of families with an annual cover of five lakh rupees and is extending the safety net to every senior citizen aged 70 and above, ensuring that no senior citizen faces illness in financial distress.
The Minister further underlined that an initiative like Bharat Life Sciences Award goes beyond presenting awards and honours the quiet, relentless dedication of doctors, researchers, and entrepreneurs, among others who work everyday to build a healthier India.
