Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda today visited the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, to review cleanliness, sanitation and waste management initiatives undertaken by the institute under Special Campaign 6.
During the visit, the Minister inspected the newly constructed Patient Waiting Lounge at the AIIMS Trauma Centre Extension Campus. Developed by Bharat Electronics Limited, the facility is proposed to be used as an Aashray Shelter for patients and their attendants.
The shelter is expected to improve patient welfare by providing a permanent, covered space as an alternative to temporary tents.
It will enhance comfort and hygiene and reduce the need for patients and their attendants to rest in open areas around the hospital.
Mr. Nadda also interacted with sanitation workers and acknowledged their contribution to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene on the hospital premises. He highlighted the importance of recognising the role of frontline sanitation workers.
