Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has directed that all garbage collection vehicles be equipped with GPS systems to enable regular monitoring. The Chief Minister issued these instructions today in Chandigarh while reviewing solid waste management with the Chief Minister’s Good Governance Associates (Mukhyamantri Sushasan Sehyogi) and officials from various departments.
Emphasising the need for regular garbage collection from every household,CM directed that special attention be paid to cleanliness in high-footfall areas. He also instructed that, alongside regular road cleaning, the Forest Department should plant flowering and ornamental plants along roadside stretches.
The Chief Minister further directed officials to begin preparations immediately for the ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’ (Cleanliness Fortnight), scheduled from September 17 to October 2, and to release a detailed calendar for the event. He instructed officials to rank wards of urban local bodies based on cleanliness and operational performance on a quarterly basis and to honour the best-performing wards. He also directed that the best-performing wards and sanitation workers be felicitated on October 2.
