The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and National Road Safety Board (NRSB) today held an institutional meeting in New Delhi in order to undertake a comprehensive review of road safety systems on the National Highway network.
The meeting marked an important step towards establishing a structured institutional framework for sustained collaboration between NHAI and NRSB with the objective of strengthening road safety governance, enhancing National Highway safety standards and accelerating efforts towards reducing accidents on the National Highways.
Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways said that during the meeting, NHAI presented a comprehensive view of the current status of road safety management on National Highways, covering road safety performance and emerging trends, institutional arrangements and governance, highway safety engineering and operations, road safety audits and black spot management, speed management, Intelligent Transport Systems and technology-enabled interventions.
The deliberations also included a detailed diagnostic review of the existing road safety ecosystem on National Highways, with emphasis on technology-enabled interventions and emergency response mechanisms.
