On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, a ‘GVP Mukt Abhiyan’ was launched by Gurugram Municipal Corporation under the “Swachhta Hi Seva 2026” programme.

The campaign will run till 11th October and 21 Garbage Vulnerable points will be made GVP-free during this period.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini launched the campaign by inspecting the GVP-free site developed by Municipal Corporation Gurugram near DHBVN Colony on Mehrauli Road.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister emphasised the participation of citizens while not restricting cleanliness to the government system alone.

He said that the government can provide arrangements and facilities and use modern technology and resources, but it is the responsibility of every citizen to keep the waste from homes and institutions separate.

He underlined the government system, modern technology and public participation as three important aspects of the cleanliness drive and said that it aims to make the cleanliness campaign into a comprehensive citizen campaign through public participation.

The Chief Minister said that the objective of the GVP-free campaign is not only to clean once but also to promote responsible behaviour among citizens to ensure that garbage does not accumulate again at identified places.
