In Gujarat, local body elections and by-elections across Gujarat concluded peacefully today, with varying voter turnout recorded in municipal corporations, municipalities and panchayat bodies.
According to the Gujarat State Election Commission, Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation recorded an average voter turnout of 55 per cent across 11 wards by 6 pm. Thara Municipality in Banaskantha district recorded 79 per cent polling across six wards, while Okha Municipality in Devbhumi Dwarka district recorded 56.44 per cent across nine wards.
Among the bodies that went to by-elections, Kheralu Municipality in Mehsana recorded 69 per cent turnout, Chhota Udepur Municipality 61 per cent and Bayad Municipality in Aravalli district 53 per cent. Devbhumi Dwarka District Panchayat recorded 61 per cent polling, while Paddhari Taluka Panchayat in Rajkot district registered 75 per cent turnout. Polling was also held for the Satlasana and Harij Taluka Panchayats.
