Rescue and relief operations are being carried out on a war footing following the heavy rains in Gujarat. In the last twenty-four hours, 265 talukas of the state have received rain. Five deaths confirmed by state relief commissioner.

 

Considering the current situation of the state, the Chief Minister of the state, Bhupendra Patel, held a high-level review meeting in Gandhinagar. So far, about 40,500 people have been evacuated. While following the rains in North Gujarat and Central Gujarat, 17 teams of Army, NDRF and 32 teams of SDRF have joined the rescue and relief operations.

 

A total of Rs 40 crores is allocated for cash donations and household assistance for the affected people. Work is also being done to drain the accumulated rainwater in Ahmedabad. The state administration in Surat and Valsad as well as Navsari is on alert. Also, high officials are on their feet to reach the rain-affected areas and expedite the relief and rescue operations.
