India Meteorological Department has issued a severe weather warning, forecasting heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across widespread parts of Gujarat over the next forty-eight hours. Fishermen have been strictly advised not to venture into the sea till August 1. Our correspondent reports that the state administration remains on alert and all the precautionary measures are being taken.

 

The monsoon situation in Gujarat remains critical, as the IMD has issued a red alert for very heavy rainfall for 13 districts today, covering Central and South Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, Anand, Surat, Navsari, and Valsad. Authorities and disaster management teams remain on high readiness across all high-risk areas.

 

Schools and colleges in several affected districts, including Ahmedabad and Navsari, will remain closed today as a precautionary measure. Meanwhile, the state government has issued strict instructions to district administrations to ensure the speedy evacuation of residents living in low-lying and flood-prone areas to shelter homes.
