Govt has taken adequate steps to make India self-reliant: Union Minister Ajay Bhatt

India’s Defence export value increased significantly in 2021-22 as compared to 2013-2014. In a written reply in Lok Sabha today, the Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt said the Government has taken adequate steps to make the country self-reliant by developing indigenous advanced technologies and complex systems. As per the data provided by the Defence Ministry, the value of exports in the Defence sector in 2013-2014 was 1,153 crore Rupees. This increased to 12,815 crore Rupees in 2021-2022. Mr Bhatt said that during the last three financial years, around 122 contracts have been signed for capital procurement of defence equipment. Out of these, 100 contracts accounting for 87 per cent of total contract value were signed with Indian vendors for capital procurement of Defence equipment.
