The government has issued revised operational guidelines for the Scheme of Assistance to National Sports Federations (NSFs), with enhanced financial support for hosting international sporting events in India. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports said the revised scheme provides financial assistance of up to 50 crore rupees for hosting international sporting events in the country. The scheme also provides assistance of up to 50 crore rupees for conducting the National Games. The funding will cover sports equipment, timing, scoring and results services, remuneration for technical officials, and other technical arrangements. The revised guidelines also provide for the establishment of specialised Olympic Training Centres equipped with modern sports science facilities to support elite athletes.
The Ministry said the scheme includes assistance for promoting indigenous sports internationally, facilitating training for athletes and coaches from Global South countries at Indian high-performance centres, and organising sporting events, conferences and workshops under multilateral forums such as BRICS and BIMSTEC. Support will also be extended to recognised international and continental sports organisations that have offices in India.
The Ministry said the revised scheme aligns with India’s long-term sporting vision and its preparations for the 2036 Olympic bid and the Commonwealth Games 2030.
