The government has debunked a post circulating on social media claiming that the Ministry of Finance has asked the Reserve Bank of India and Securities and Exchange Board of India to consider regulating crypto. The Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) said that the claim is fake. The Unit clarified that India does not recognise crypto as an asset and informed that no such directions have been passed by the Finance Ministry. PIB has also urged the citizens to always rely on official sources for verified information.
