The Government has refuted a fake video of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman circulating online promoting an investment scheme. The altered video is promising citizens an assured income of 5 lakh fifty thousand rupees per week for an initial investment of 22,000 rupees. The Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) said that the video is fake and AI-generated. The unit clarified that the Finance Minister has not endorsed any such investment platform or scheme. It also urged citizens to beware of fraudsters attempting to lure citizens into fraudulent schemes and defraud them of their money.
