The Government is working to reduce the cost of the construction of bridges and metros by 25 percent with the use of ultra-enforcement concrete, a technology adapted from Malaysia. This was stated by Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, while inaugurating the International Methanol Conference in New Delhi organized by NITI Aayog. Mr. Gadkari said that there is a huge potential for exporting biodiesel and alternative fuel. He added that India has the third-largest automobile industry in the world, with a size of 22 lakh crore rupees and the presence of almost all the global auto majors. The Minister further stated that the industry is responsible for the employment of around 1 crore 50 lakh youths in the country.
The two-day international methanol seminar and expo 2024, starting today, intends to highlight the progress of projects, products, and research and development initiatives related to methanol production, application, and allied technological developments worldwide. The key focus of the seminar will be to highlight the role of methanol in the world energy transition and the rise of methanol as a low-carbon fuel in green shipping.
