Giriraj Singh Says Medical Textiles Sector Holds Immense Potential for Self-Reliance

Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh said the medical textiles, technical textiles and health technology sectors hold immense potential to enhance India’s self-reliance and global competitiveness.
 
The minister today visited the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) in Visakhapatnam, where he reviewed medical device manufacturing units, research and innovation centres, and other key industrial infrastructure.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Singh said the Central Government is continuously working under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to establish India as a global manufacturing and innovation hub. He said these efforts are in line with the vision of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.
 
Mr Singh said the facilities at AMTZ reflect India’s growing strengths in healthcare technology and advanced manufacturing. He added that the sector offers significant opportunities to boost domestic production and strengthen the country’s position in global markets.
 
During the visit, the minister inaugurated a Medical Textiles Testing Lab. He also inspected advanced facilities related to medical devices, diagnostics, sterilisation, 3D printing, surgical instruments and biomaterials manufacturing.
