Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the people of West Bengal can directly register complaints related to extortion, syndicate activities, illegal road and toll tax collections, and illegal liquor through four toll-free helplines launched by the state government. The Union Home Minister reached Bagdogra on Thursday evening on a three-day visit to West Bengal.
In a social media post, Mr Shah said he held a meeting with Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and senior officials in Siliguri yesterday to review the functioning of the helplines. He said swift action will be ensured on every complaint received through these numbers.
The helplines are 155334 for extortion, 155335 for syndicate activities, 155337 for illegal road and toll tax collections, and 155339 for illegal liquor.
Mr Shah said people in West Bengal had suffered for years due to extortion, syndicate activities and illegal collections, and added that the BJP government is working to dismantle the system.
