Four stakeholder states of Narmada Project reach agreement regarding displacement and compensation

Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra governments today reached an agreement on pending issues related to the Narmada Project in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. This resolved the decades-old dispute regarding the displacement of people from flood-affected areas and compensation for land in the Narmada River Project. Union Home Ministry said the Chief Ministers of all states involved in the agreement agreed to an amicable settlement of the dispute under the leadership and guidance of the Union Home Minister.
Recently, significant progress has been made in resolving long-standing water-sharing issues between states – whether it be the Kishau Dam project in Himachal Pradesh or the water dispute between Rajasthan and Haryana.
