In Jammu and Kashmir, four people including three women died and eight sustained critical injuries when their vehicle skidded off a road and rolled down a deep gorge in frontier district Rajouri district in the early hours today. AIR Correspondent reports that the accident took place in the Thanna Mandi subdivision of district Rajouri when the victims were on their way to Bhangai village from Poonch district, where they had gone to attend a funeral. The driver of the car lost control over it on the Thanna Mandi-Bhangai road hardly a few hundred metres from its destination.
Twelve passengers in total were travelling in the vehicle at the time of the accident. All were rescued by locals and police, and taken to the sub-district hospital in Thanna Mandi, where four of them were declared brought dead. All the deceased were residents of Bhangai. The injured have been referred to the GMC Associated Hospital in Rajouri, and a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station, Thanna Mandi.
