Former Mongolian President lauds progress of India-backed oil refinery project

Former Mongolian President and leader of the ruling Mongolian People’s Party (MPP), Nambaryn Enkhbayar, has appreciated the progress of the Oil Refinery Project at Dornogovi, which is being developed with India’s support.

The Mongol Oil Refinery Project, being implemented with the support of a 1.7 billion US dollar Line of Credit (LoC) extended by the Government of India, is a flagship initiative and a key component of Mongolia’s sustainable energy strategy.

The Indian Embassy in Mongolia, in a social media post, said that Indian Ambassador Atul Malhari Gotsurve, along with the former Mongolian President, visited the project site at Dornogovi and interacted with engineers and workers from Engineers India Limited, Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited, and Mongol Refinery.

The Embassy said Mr Enkhbayar appreciated the progress of the mega project and noted that it would further strengthen India-Mongolia bilateral ties while ensuring sustainable energy supplies for Mongolia.
