The Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) has decided to call off their strike over the Kolkata doctor’s murder incident. A decision in this regard was taken after a delegation of FORDA met Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda in New Delhi. Doctors from across the country have been protesting over the incident since Monday.
Talking to media after the meeting, FORDA President Aviral Mathur said, the Health Minister has assured that their demands would be addressed in a time-bound manner. Mr. Mathur added that since their all demands have been accepted, FORDA has decided to call off the strike. Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda has welcomed FORDA ‘s decision to call off the strike. Mr. Nadda assured doctors that his Ministry will address all their concerns to ensure a safer and better work environment.
Meanwhile, a CBI team has begun an investigation into the case after collecting the FIR copy from the Tala police station in Kolkata, West Bengal. The team yesterday interrogated four doctors who were with the deceased doctor before the incident and other persons related to the case. The Calcutta High Court ordered a CBI investigation into the case. The division bench of Chief Justice T.S. Sivagnanam and Justice Hiranmoy Bhattacharya passed the order. The delegation of the National Commission for Women visited R G Kar Medical College yesterday.
