Food Safety Department officials conducted surprise inspections at 70 hotels, restaurants and other food establishments across 28 districts of Andhra Pradesh the previous day. Officials closed 25 establishments for serious violations of hygiene and sanitation standards and registered 30 cases. Ten cases were filed against establishments operating without valid food safety licences, while the remaining cases related to unhygienic conditions. Notices were issued to another 15 establishments.

 

Officials also seized and destroyed more than 100 kilograms of cooked food that had been stored in freezers for a long period and was found unfit for consumption. The inspections found unhygienic kitchens, improper food storage and use of unauthorised artificial colours and flavour enhancers at some establishments. State Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav directed officials to continue strict inspections and ensure that food establishments comply with safety standards.
