Union Minister for Finance Nirmala Sitharaman has welcomed the statement by Tamilnadu Chief Minister C.Joseph Vijay on the Centre-State relations. Interacting with the media at Kanchipuram near Chennai, she said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always been supportive of Tamilnadu. She said that the Centre had already released funds to the earlier Government for the welfare of the people of Tamilnadu and assured that the support would continue for the State. She also pointed out that if the State Government appeals to the Centre, the Union Government will set up additional medical colleges in all the districts of the State. She said that Governments can implement schemes by securing loans, but it should be used for the benefit of the people. The Finance Minister also said that there was nothing wrong in criticising the previous Governments or the Opposition.
