Despite a steady fall in river levels, flood conditions continue to affect several parts of Bihar. According to the Disaster Management Department, around 44 lakh people in 14 districts are affected by the floods.
“Water levels in the Ganga, Punpun, Son, Kosi and other major rivers are gradually receding. However, several rivers are still flowing above the danger mark. In Patna, the water level of the Ganga has fallen, according to the Water Resources Department. Flooding continues in low-lying areas of fourteen districts. 961 community kitchens and 15 relief camps are currently operating in the affected areas. Meanwhile, five people drowned in floodwater that had accumulated along a roadside in Koili Khutaha village, under Bypass police station area of Bhagalpur district.
