In Assam, the flood situation has shown further improvement with the number of affected districts coming down to six. According to the latest official report, Sivasagar, Golaghat, Charaideo, Jorhat, Nagaon and Kamrup Metropolitan districts continue to be affected by the deluge.

 

A total of 4 lakh 45 thousand 495 people remain affected across 631 villages under 21 revenue circles. No fresh flood-related casualty was reported yesterday. Authorities are continuing relief and restoration measures in the affected areas as floodwaters recede in most parts of the state.

 

People, with the support of the administration, are continuing their efforts to restore normalcy in the worst-affected Sivasagar District. The floodwaters of the Darika and Dikhow rivers have receded from the historic Sivasagar town.

 

However, water has still not completely drained out from 10 flood-affected wards of the town. Electricity supply has been restored in most parts of Sivasagar. Simultaneously, flood relief distribution among affected people in the adjoining areas is progressing at full pace with the assistance of the SDRF and NDRF.

 

In the interior villages that remain inundated, food supplies and essential materials required for health and sanitation are still being transported by boats.
