In Uttar Pradesh, Heavy rainfall over the past several days, coupled with the release of water from barrages, has led to flood-like conditions in several districts. 

 

The Ramganga River in Shahjahanpur and Ghaghra River in Barabanki, Ayodhya and Turtipar in Ballia are flowing above the danger mark. The Kuwano River in Gonda and the Gandak River in Kushinagar are also flowing above the danger level.

 

In Kushinagar district, an embankment along the Narayani River, passing through the Tamkuhi Raj tehsil area, breached late last night due to heavy water pressure. The embankment broke over a stretch of around 25 metres, triggering panic among local residents. Following the breach, nearly two dozen villages in the district are facing the threat of flooding.

 

The NDRF and SDRF teams have been directed to carry out extensive rescue operations in the affected areas.

 

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has forecast thundershowers and rain in some parts of the state today as well. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation in the affected districts.
