Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurates road project in Meghalaya

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today inaugurated the Jowai-Nartiang-Kdiap-Khanduli road project, spanning 59.955 kilometres in Meghalaya. The project, funded by the New Development Bank at a cost of about Rs. 59.48 crore, was inaugurated at the Wahiajer Multi Sports Complex Stadium in West Jaintia Hills district.
 
After the inauguration, the Union Finance Minister interacted with students of Kiang Nangbah Government College, Jowai, and also spoke with young footballers involved in grassroots sports activities at the Wahiajer Centre.
 
The event was attended by Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, Sports Minister Wailadmiki Shylla, Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, and Commissioner Secretary D. Vijay Kumar, who also holds charge of Planning, Finance, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
 
During her visit, Nirmala Sitharaman also visited the Shree Maa Jayantee Temple and the Monoliths Heritage site at Nartiang. She later inspected stalls showcasing Meghalaya’s GI-tagged products, where she interacted with local farmers and artisans.
