Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held meetings with Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation, global economic developments and investment opportunities.
According to the Ministry of Finance, Ms Sitharaman called on President Tharman at The Istana in Singapore yesterday. The meeting focused on advancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Singapore and further strengthening bilateral ties.
Singapore Prime Minister also welcomed the Finance Minister Sitharaman and said the discussions covered global economic developments and ways to navigate the ongoing energy crisis. He added that Ms Sitharaman had shared updates on India’s development and emerging opportunities for investment and cooperation.
Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan also welcomed Ms Sitharaman, highlighting opportunities for Singaporean companies to participate in India’s long-term growth.
The meetings underline the commitment of both countries to deepen economic engagement, expand investment opportunities and strengthen cooperation amid evolving global economic conditions.
