A major push to strengthen rail connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir is underway, with Final Location Surveys sanctioned for key railway projects, including a strategic new line connecting Jammu-Reasi with Poonch. Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that a field survey for the 190-kilometre project has already been taken up for preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR).

Survey for 78-kilometre additional line between Jammu and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra has also been sanctioned. Meanwhile, the DPR for the 216-kilometre third line between Jalandhar Cantt and Jammu Tawi has been prepared. In addition, a Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal has been commissioned in Samba district, while approvals have been granted for similar terminals in Kathua, Anantnag and Jammu.
