In Men’s Hockey, India defeated Netherlands 3-2 in their final FIH Pro League match in Rotterdam yesterday. Jugraj Singh, Abhishek, and Rajinder Singh scored the goals, helping India register their second win of the leg against the Dutch side.
The Netherlands started strongly and created early pressure, but India’s defence settled quickly. After a goalless first quarter, INDIA took the lead with a penalty corner goal through Jugraj Singh in the 18th minute. The Dutch equalised soon after, but Abhishek restored India’s lead before halftime to make it 2-1. The final quarter saw the Netherlands pushing hard for an equaliser, but errors in the penalty corner setup continued to frustrate the hosts.
In the second half, Rajinder Singh extended India’s advantage in the 56th minute from a penalty corner. The Netherlands men’s national field hockey team responded late through Koen Bijen, but India held firm in the closing stages to seal the win.
Stand-in captain Hardik Singh was named Player of the Match for his leadership and strong midfield performance. India’s defence stood out in the final quarter, especially while defending multiple penalty corners, to secure a valuable victory.
