Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asserted that the exceptional performance of indigenous missile systems during Operation Sindoor is a testimony to the growing strength of India’s defence research and development ecosystem.
Inaugurating the Advanced Weapon System Complex at the Defence Research and Development Organisation’s (DRDO) Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), part of the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex, in Hyderabad, the Defence Minister said that systems developed by DRDO, such as Akash and BrahMos, have demonstrated India’s capability to compete in the global defence technology ecosystem.
Mr Singh emphasised that strength is essential for peace and that self-reliance is the most reliable foundation for that strength.
Highlighting the crucial role played by air defence during Operation Sindoor, he said that when aerial threats loomed over the country’s borders, India’s air defence system effectively thwarted the enemy’s intentions.
The Defence Minister also underscored the importance of possessing resilience and deterrence capabilities to safeguard national security interests in the face of the rapidly evolving nature of warfare and global uncertainties. He stressed the need to equip the armed forces with state-of-the-art systems to meet future challenges.
The Defence Minister also visited a technical exhibition showcasing cutting-edge defence technologies, advanced weapon systems, and indigenous missile platforms developed by DRDO.
