European Union delegation visits Tata Electronics semiconductor facility in Assam’s Morigaon district

A high-level delegation of the European Union today visited the upcoming semiconductor assembly and testing facility being developed by Tata Electronics at Jagiroad in Assam’s Morigaon district. The delegation was led by Hervé Delphin, Ambassador of the European Union to India, and Didier Vanderhasselt, Ambassador of Belgium to India. Several senior officials and representatives from the European Union were also part of the visiting team.
 
During the visit, officials of Tata Electronics provided a detailed presentation on the progress of the Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) project, highlighting construction activities, advanced manufacturing technologies, workforce development initiatives, and future expansion plans.
 
The delegation expressed appreciation for the rapid progress of the project and showed keen interest in Assam’s growing industrial landscape and the opportunities emerging in India’s semiconductor sector. Members of the delegation also discussed the prospects for international investment, technology partnerships, and future collaboration in high-tech manufacturing.
 
The Tata Electronics OSAT facility at Jagiroad is expected to play a key role in strengthening India’s semiconductor ecosystem and positioning Assam on the global electronics manufacturing map. The project is also anticipated to generate substantial employment opportunities and contribute significantly to skill development and socio-economic growth in the region.
