Estonia Invites Indian IT Professionals, Tech Firms to Explore European Business Opportunities

Estonia has invited Indian IT professionals and technology companies to explore business opportunities in Europe through its e-residency programme, with the country’s Minister of Justice and Digital Affairs, Liisa Pakosta, saying that Indian talent is warmly welcome.

Her remarks came amid the US government’s suspension of certain major technology and IT outsourcing firms from the Permanent Labour Certification (PERM) programme.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the India Mobile Congress in New Delhi today, Pakosta highlighted Estonia’s e-residency initiative, which enables entrepreneurs to establish and manage companies in the European Union digitally without having to relocate physically to Estonia.

She said there was considerable scope for Indian and Estonian businesses to collaborate, invest in each other’s markets and expand innovative products and services.

Pakosta added that the proposed India-European Union Free Trade Agreement could further enhance cooperation, particularly in the digital services sector.

The Estonian minister also praised India’s technological expertise and strong research and development ecosystem, expressing her country’s interest in partnering with Indian companies and professionals to develop innovative solutions.

She identified cybersecurity and digital public infrastructure as key areas for future collaboration, particularly as artificial intelligence-driven threats continue to grow more sophisticated.

Pakosta said Estonia was keen to leverage India’s research and development capabilities to address emerging cybersecurity challenges and strengthen technological cooperation between the two countries.
