Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav today said that Haryana Government is actively working on Central Government’s recommendations to protect Aravallis and prevent Air Pollution. Addressing Haryana’s 77th Van Mahotsav organised in Manesar, Haryana, Mr Yadav congratulated the State Government for its efforts to make Gurugram a green city. He also reviewed the air quality situation in the state and noted that the State Government has taken cognisance of his recommendations and worked to carry them forward. Mr Yadav also stressed the importance of grasslands and woodlands for soil conservation and maintaining the water table, and said that the state has done good work in this regard.
On the occasion, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that Van Mahotsav is not merely a programme for planting saplings but an opportunity to repay the debt to nature. He also informed that under Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, a target of planting 1.4 crore trees has been set for the State this year. He said, it is the collective responsibility of all to make the Aravallis green again. The Chief Minister said that the major highlight of this year’s celebrations was the District-Level Van Mahotsav programmes which were simultaneously organized across all the districts of Haryana.
