Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav stresses faster implementation of anti-pollution measures in Delhi

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav has stressed the need for faster implementation, better coordination among agencies and strict enforcement to reduce pollution levels in Delhi before the winter season. Mr Yadav held a review meeting with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta yesterday to assess the progress of measures being taken to improve air quality in the National Capital.

The Minister said work related to road dust control needs to be sped up and asked the Delhi Government to complete all pending road redevelopment projects by October this year. He also called for increasing the number of mechanised road sweeping machines in the city.

On public transport and electric mobility, Mr Yadav emphasised the need to expand EV charging infrastructure across Delhi. He also stressed on strengthening the metro network and improving last-mile connectivity.

The minister also called for faster action on the removal of old vehicles, better traffic management through signal-free corridors, stricter checks on industrial pollution and diesel generator sets, and improved waste management systems. He stressed strict action against violators and urged authorities to strengthen monitoring, parking infrastructure and construction waste processing facilities across the city.
